What is Radiant Heat?
Our saunas are equipped with Theramitter radiant heaters. Radiant Heat is a natural form of energy that heats objects directly without having to heat the air in between. Radiant heat is also called infra-red [IR] energy. An every day example of infra-red is the warmth we absorb from the sun. Picture standing in the sun on a cold but sunny day. The warmth of the sun penetrates right through your clothing to keep you warm. Move into the shade and you feel the cold immediately. The air temperature however remained the same! You were absorbing IR energy. Another example is body heat. When you hold onto somebody to warm up you are absorbing radiant heat. As human beings we are able to "see" energy as colors between red and violet. Infra-red (below red) we "feel" as heat. Ultra-violet [beyond violet] is the other end of the rainbow and of no concern to us here. Radiant infra-red heat is used in our hospitals to warm infants and prescribed for many therapeutic practices requiring deep penetrating heat. Safety First!
 Radiant vs. Hot Air Saunas
Conventional Saunas use a metal stove, rocks and a red hot electric element. The resulting air temperatures reach 180-235 degrees Fahrenheit. The "hot air" currents [convection energy] then make contact with the skin [conduction energy) to produce its heating effect on us. Cell by cell the body warms until finally the heat is felt inside and raises our temperature.
Radiant Saunas use ceramic heaters built into the walls to produce infra-red energy. Less than 20% of the infrared energy heats the air, leaving 80% to be converted to heat within our bodies. The resulting air temperatures are much lower 110-130 degrees Fahrenheit and produce a safer, more natural rise in body temperature. A radiant based system can warm its user to a much greater depth and more comfortably than a conventional sauna.
Why Our Far Infra Red Sauna?
Ceramic heaters:
More efficient and effective. A complete ceramic heater is proven to be the best conductor of far-infrared heat. This means you are getting optimum micron levels, much higher than that of a metal heater, which results in a deeper penetrating heat. A deeper penetration means more therapeutic benefits as well as greater removal of harmful toxins that lie deep beneath the skin surface.
Constant emission system:
Other companies use a thermostat which is a switch mechanism that clicks on and off during your session. Our saunas use constant emitters this means you're getting full time radiant heat using our patented ceramic heaters.
Concave heater:
Our patented Far-Infrared Heaters are Concave Ceramic TheraMitters to allow a broader range of Far-Infrared ray dispersion in a 180 degree pattern effectively covering every square inch inside the sauna. Other companies use a flat-faced block or tube, which only sends the infrared in a direct line. This means that you would have to sit directly in front of a heater to get the benefits. Whereas with our concave system which employs a high quality reflector so that all energy is given direction toward the user to improve the delivery of far infrared. The EMF (Electromagnetic Field) is non-existent in the Ceramic TheraMitter because the wiring changes direction several times over the face of the heater, thus canceling out any EMF. The watt density of the TheraMitter is ideal; providing the highest output of far infrared at the most beneficial micron range for the human body. This means you get Far-Infrared heat throughout the cabin. Therefore, it is not necessary to sit directly in front of our heaters; this makes it possible to relax in the sauna without having to keep positioning yourself to receive the full benefits.
Wavelength:
The most beneficial wavelength for the human body for the deepest infrared is the 9.4 micron and our patented system allows the elements to constantly be searching for exactly that wavelength even when reaching desired cabin temperature. Between the patented TheraMitters that allow optimal 9.4 dispersion and the MPS control system that constantly searches for the desired frequency (and even allows adjustment of each heater output individually), we feel we offer the most effective components and cabin on the market.
EMF:
Many cabins emit high levels of EMF, but ours do not as can be tested by portable EMF tester available at radio shack. Walking up to neon light, competitor's infrared cabins etc.. sets it off, but around our cabins there is no detectable EMF and no hazard resulting from that. Also our wood is non-toxic, non odourous Aspen wood (not Cedar that emits toxins).
